A viral tweet proposing to turn Hezbollah’s tunnels into wine cellars forces Lebanon to face a long-avoided question: will it keep digging into conflict or rise to build a state worthy of its people?
I truly hope Lebanon can build a thriving wine industry one day. But the sad reality is that Israel will never let Lebanon live in peace until Hezbollah and the Lebanese army learn to work together to defend their country and its air space. Defeat the Zionists who keep attacking you, then you can grow all the wine you want.
In the case of Lebanon, it was Hezbollah that attacked Israel and started the war, not the other way around. They called it the Gaza support frontline. This happened despite the majority of the people opposing any kind of involvement and constant calling for neutrality.
That’s a fair point. In this instance, Hezbollah opened fire first. And I commend them for it. They saw the slaughter Israel was unleashing on Gaza’s poor souls and felt compelled to stand up despite the political and military consequences. But I don’t think trying to stand up to an evil apartheid regime was a mistake in the same way I wouldn’t fault anyone for trying to fight the Nazis.
Their mistake was resting on their laurels after 2006. The IDF’s military planners spent the years after that war obsessing over their mistakes and adjusting their tactics accordingly. Hezbollah, on the hand, appears to have gotten very complacent.
I can only hope the past two years have woken the region up to the very real threat posed by Israel and that all the region’s people learn to work together to prosper and protect themselves. But as I explain in the article below with respect to Iran - the first step must be domestic reforms to liberalize their political systems. That is the only chance they have at building modern militaries capable of protecting themselves.
The Zionists have been so damaging to the entire world, and especially to the Middle East. Southern Lebanon is of course under "Greater Israel" expansionist threat, from the occupation currently within the rough borders known as Israel.

What did twitter-x have to say about that?
