The problem is not building on other civilizations and advance knowledge, but in ascribing those ideas and advances you learned from someone else to yourself

The westerners stole the advances that the Muslims did and ascribed it to themselves

It's worth noting that competition between companies is fierce: since the dawn of time, knowledge and manufacturing secrets have been a source of wealth for a few and a source of employment for many. Sharing knowledge, as in joint ventures, is now seen as a loss of the knowledge monopoly, resulting in market share losses and even bankruptcies. This is bad not only for these companies but also for the population and the state. Now it's the West complaining about being deprived of its knowledge! The wheel turns!
