Wonderful wonderful, congratulations. Every tiny bit of a different vision, every tiny step outside the many boxes that have imprisoned people, brings hope.

Ian Mark Sirota's avatar

Let’s hope that this tiny step is but the first of many. Sending my best.

The Lebanese have long deserved better lifes.

A remarkable moment. Not because peace is near, but because the impossible finally happened in public.

Wonderful piece. Insightful. Thank you

I sincerely wish peace and freedom for all across the world; in the UK we the masses are defending our democracy from our current pro Israel led government. I hope that your country will succeed in their talks with Israel however as they well know Israel has a master plan and thinks of all other souls as being secondary to themselves. The fact this civilian group has been formed must be extremely positive and exciting for all the citizens of Lebanon.

What a load of bollocks!

Defending democracy by ending free speech, abolishing trial by jury and launching murderous attacks on crowded synagogues?

"Israel has a master plan and thinks of all other souls as being secondary"

More antisemitic drivel: does giving a Gaza girl the same state-of-the-art pacemaker Netanyahu got a few months earlier sound anything like secondary?

Every word you wrote shows that you are living in a different reality, please get help before its to late. You show signs of mental illness.

And the same back at you. 👍🏼

.. watch the You Tube videos I shared with you .. you might learn something

Ms Holden - You actually wrote: “The master plan for a greater Israel is yet another attempt at land grabbing.” In 2005

Israel unilaterally, without being asked and in exchange for nothing, emptied Gaza of its people and handed the keys to profitable businesses and beautiful communities to Arabs who promptly razed the billions of free infrastructure. I know, I was there a few months before. When everyone tells you you’re drunk, start guzzling coffee.

You speak dribble with the certainty of an insane person. And it is nuts like you who are destroying the Kingdom, not only driving Jews with centuries of being proud, contributing Britons to leave. Have fun wearing a burka under threat of death - sadly you’ll be there before any psychiatrist could possibly return you to sanity.

Nick's avatar

1. You're not the masses. You're a Corbynista, and you are few.

2. Israel's "master plan" is survival.

3. I agree. It's a good thing Lebanon is creating positive relations with israel. The arab accords might gain a new member.

Nick's avatar

Palestine isn't a country and will never be until they choose to love their children more than they hate Jews.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jacqueline Holden's avatar

Actually friend it appears you’re a Zionist and I’m a socialist- and if you knew anything you would know that socialism is about equal rights for all - something Israel doesn’t do. Israel shouldn’t exist as it is - Palestine should consist of all faiths with equal rights and mutual respect. If Israel stopped making war on the world and committing genocide of the Palestinian people it might get on better with its neighbours.

Nick's avatar

I think israel should exist. If that makes me a zionist to you, I'll accept it.

Socialism doesn't mean equal rights for everyone. It means state ownership of the means of production. Learn your own terminology.

Palestinians aren't being genocided. They went from 120k people in 1950 to 2M+ now. Plz explain where the genocide is happening

Jacqueline Holden's avatar

Israel can’t continue to exist in its current form. A country that illegally occupies Palestinian Territories, treats Palestinians in a subhuman manner in what is an apartheid state, committing genocide, murder and torture cannot continue.

FYI Your Party is a democratic, member-led socialist party that stands for social justice, peace and international solidarity.

Our goal is the transfer of wealth and power, now concentrated in the hands of the few, to the overwhelming majority in a democratic, socialist society.

Our task is to build a mass party for the many, rooted in the broadest possible social alliance, with the working class at its heart.

Our aim is to win elections with a popular programme of action for real change, but also to transform our country, in the interests of the many, not the few.

We seek to change the balance of power at every level of society, by organising and campaigning in communities and workplaces, in trade unions and social movements, across the nations and regions.

Your Party is committed to equality across our society. We oppose all forms of prejudice, oppression, discrimination and scapegoating, which are weaponised by ruling elites to divide people and communities.

We reject a capitalist order that is responsible for grotesque levels of inequality both at home and abroad. We favour the extension of democracy over the economy, including the public ownership of key sectors and services.

The same economic order that exploits people is destroying the planet, fuelling the climate crisis that threatens us all. Your Party stands for environmental justice.

We oppose the global system of imperial domination and colonisation, and support movements for national liberation and self-determination. We stand against militarism and for a world free of nuclear weapons.

Your Party stands for freedom – from poverty, exploitation and war – and in defence of   democratic rights and liberties.

Billionaires and corporations are now in control of our country. Your Party aims at its democratic and socialist transformation: by redistributing that power and wealth to all.

Nick's avatar

My task is to oppose useful idiots like yourself.

You lost the working class because you don't know them or care about them.

You care about trans bullshit, islamist rights and mandating drag shows in elementary schools.

You're good to keep losing because you can't admit when you're wrong.

And I'm going to savor every second of it

In response to Le Vitallies message I received (see copy above) but which is no longer showing; I suggest you read my email properly before spewing abuse. Israel is untrustworthy and they have woven connections through governments and power across the world. Your comment regarding a pacemaker for a Palestinian girl? So what? That’s exactly what should happen as the norm instead of glorifying it in the papers. What do you feel about the innocent dead Palestinian children shot in head by IDF soldiers? Where is your compassion for them? The master plan for a greater Israel is yet another attempt at land grabbing. Since arrival in Palestine the Zionists bought up land, formed terrorists groups to kill British forces and any person standing against their view, and since 1948 Israel has worked to displace the indigenous Palestinian people resulting in mass ethnic cleansing genocide and torture, and more recently Netanyahu enabled the events of 7 Oct 23 ensuring guards were stood down along the fence, since then a minimum of 70,000 innocent people have been slaughtered. Hamas was nurtured and financed by Netanyahu for years, Hamas was wrong to attack on 7 Oct however Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian territory so they have a legitimate right to resist the occupiers - just as happened in WW2 against the Germans when they attempted to eradicate the Jewish people in the holocaust - Israel is no different!

Adina's avatar

And over the decades, what has the Palestinian leaders' contribution been to this conflict, and the contribution of their vile geopolitical "allies" ? Open your 2nd eye, lady, so you can see the whole picture.

Jacqueline Holden's avatar

We see the brutality and grief on both sides but fundamentally Israel has chosen to follow the path of a Zionist apartheid nation by segregating and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians - are their children’s lives worth any less than those of the Israeli children?

Nick's avatar

Palestinian children's lives are thrown away by their parents in pursuit of a genocide. When this stops, there will be peace

Nathan Brown's avatar

Ms Holden, having read both your comments, I find your perspective and interpretation of history as utter nonsense.

I don’t know where to start to try and re educate you .. perhaps listen to this palestinian christian guy

And then listen to this Arab woman of Syrian / Lebanese descent

Lebanon deserves to navigate its own direction without Iranian back Hezbollah. Lebanon used to be the Côte d’Azur of the Middle East, with a Maronite christian society. Roll in the islamic jihadists from Iran .. and another terror state forms.

Let’s hope Lebanon can become the independent state it deserves to be, with good relations with Israel.

Front Page: Holy Land's avatar

Israel betrayed Lebanese Christians when they had to deal with the islamists. Just because, like now, strong condemnation from the west. I hope this time Israel will act better and smarter.

Flying a military aircraft into another nation’s airspace can have consequences. You’re gracious to note the restraint of Lebanese officials.👍

"Flying a military aircraft into another nation’s airspace can have consequences"

Especially when you're in a declared state of war against that nation. Ask the Germans or Japanese for full details 😆🇮🇱

In theory, dialogue seems like a step in the right direction but the sad truth is that it will not lead to much until Lebanon can back its words up with action. Israel only understands the language of violence. The Lebanese army must learn to speak this language fluently or its country will never be safe. And the best way to do that is to work WITH Hezbollah as the only military force that has proven capable of dissuading Israel from attacking Lebanon. You can’t placate Nazis, you have to show them you’re strong enough to protect yourself or they will never stop.

Nathan Brown's avatar

Israel’s language is a strong military response when it is attacked or under threat.

I would not describe Israel as violent .. Israel maintains peace with Jordan and Egypt because they have a peaceful co existence.
